STONE MOUNTAIN PARK

f you are willing to drive 30-40 minutes outside of the city, I suggest visiting Stone Mountain Theme Park. All summer long they have laser shows on weekend nights and activities for children such as the new “Rio-4 D Experience”. I enjoy hiking up the 1 mile trail to the top of Stone Mountain because the views of the city are amazing and it is great exercise! You can hike back down or take a relaxing gondola ride back to the bottom. I also suggest taking in the 4th of July fireworks above the mountain. There are picnic and camping grounds on the property as well as walking and biking trails. If you wish to stay at Stone Mountain, you have a choice of hotels and several restaurants to choose from.
