Mary Laveau’s grave is one of the most visited spots in the city for good reason. The voodoo queen is held in high regard in the city and surrounding areas, expect a handful of people who visit her often. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Word of mouth has kept Mary Laveau alive and well. Although the tradition is to write an X with a wish and return with an offering if the prayer is answered, it is not advised, as the tomb is over 200 years old. Note: As of March 1, 2015, all tourists are required to enter St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 with a licensed tour guide.
