For something simple, check out Juanita’s Taco Shop in Encinitas. Several people swear by Roberto’s or Nico’s, but long time locals and newcomers know that Juanita’s always seems to dish out perfect California burritos (a San Diego must-have) and mouthwatering tacos. Anything with carnitas on the menu is the right choice to make. The inexpensive cuisine is prepared Tepatitlán style, named for a small city near Guadalajara. The restaurant is tiny, but most people order their food to go, so finding seating isn’t difficult. I recommend brown bagging it and heading to the beach. Located on the corner of North Coast Highway 101 and Marcheta Street in Encinitas.
