Anchorage lies within Chugach State Park, one of the largest state parks in the United States with close to 500,000 acres of land. There are numerous access points throughout the city, but the Glen Alps Trailhead, which provides access to Flattop Mountain, is one of the most popular. Make it even halfway up the mountain and you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the city.
