Coney Island: Where else will you find a parade full of women dressed like mermaids, a museum of obscure artifacts, burlesque performances, sideshow freaks, a campy movie festival, an old-fashioned arcade, the beach, a baseball stadium and the annual hot dog eating contest all within walking distance? Although Coney Island has been somewhat gentrified, it still honors its weirdo past.
