Café du Monde is the originator of powder sugar-covered puff pastries known as beignets, which can be consumed with any meal of the day. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it’s history dates back to 1862. They have several locations, but if you go the French Market location, and you arrive at just the right time, you’ll have a great view of Jackson Square from one of the tables in the courtyard.
