An inexpensive and educational way to spend a few hours, Birch Aquarium has indoor and outdoor exhibits, including man-made tide pools and a look at global warming effects on the sea. The non-profit regularly hosts school field trips. Most visitors start with going the left side of the building and then go to the right. But, I recommend doing the opposite since the left is much more interesting and it’s better to get the semi-boring parts out of the way first. Not a lot of people notice that you can go outside, so be mindful that you don’t miss all its offerings, like the shark exhibit and manta ray pools.
