Yes, you can see moose and bear strolling the streets of Anchorage. But at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, about an hour drive south of Anchorage, you can see musk oxen, elk, wood bison, caribou and more up-close – and with the added benefit of a fence to keep you from getting trampled. The animals, which are all orphaned, injured or sick, are housed in large, fenced in enclosures along a two-mile loop of land that visitors can walk or drive.
