OLD TOWN ALEXANDRIA

For a great day trip out of Washington DC, visit Old Town Alexandria. The townhouses dotting the sidewalks are beautiful, and it is considered a prime spot for boutique shopping. Many of the stores are vintage or consignment shops while others are locally owned small businesses. Eat on the waterfront and take in views of the marina. Make sure to stop by the Torpedo Factor Art Center, a publicly accessible studio for working artists.

The drive 25-minute drive along the parkway offers scenic views of the Washington Monument and the Potomac River. If you prefer not to drive there public transportation and tour option. Check out their website for more details
