The Smithsonian Museums boast 13 free museums on the National Mall that explore topics from the Air and Space Museum to the American History Museum to the Natural History Museum. The museums are open every day, except Christmas. Summer tends to be the busiest time of the year so be sure to visit in the fall or spring.
